Wells Brothers Farm Store started out in 1959 as Wells Bros. Grain Company, a local grain terminal that bought grain from the farmers in the area. This new facility was built to be a high capacity elevator with access to railroad for the movement of large volumes of grain. Until that time they had operated from the original family homestead location where the family had farmed since the 1880s. Then in 1961 John and William Wells (the Wells brothers) started stocking a few farm supplies, then feed, then farm equipment, then…well, you get the idea.
Then of course the unthinkable happened: Plano started growing. Enter customers who don’t have cows to feed or fields to plow. These folks have gardens, lawns, and pets. We had customers coming from as far away as Highland Park to buy 16-20-0 fertilizer (which is still our biggest selling fertilizer). So Wells Brothers started keeping products on hand for the needs of people with smaller acreage and smaller livestock. We still have horse and cattle feed and supplies, along with a complete line of pet food and supplies. Additionally, we offer products forĀ lawn and garden needs for conventional and organic systems. From wildlife feeds to propane for your grill or RV, we’ve got something you need. The rusty metal buildings we were in for so many years are gone now, but we have a great new store just around the corner. We have a better selection of the old stuff, plus some new services, like soil testing. Friendly service includes loading your large purchases for you with a smile. Come see us at Wells Brothers Farm Store.
