Fresh seed potatoes have arrived at Wells Brothers. Choose from Red La Soda, White Kennebec and Yukon Gold. February is the time to get your seed potatoes in the ground. The rule of thumb for planting potatoes is, for every pound you plant, you will harvest from 5 to 10 pounds. Years ago I was told to plant the potatoes on Valentine’s night by the light of the moon. Well, I’ve never tried that but I do get them in the ground around the second week of February. Try using soft rock phosphate or bone meal in the hole or trench when planting.
