Believe it or not it’s time to think about pre-emergent herbicide (killing the seeds before they germinate) for our lawns. It is important to know the square footage of your lawn prior to beginning your lawn care program. The objective is to apply the correct amount of product to your lawn and keep more money in your pocket. The middle of January to the middle of March is the best time to apply pre-emergent.
For the all-natural folks, apply Corn Gluten Meal at a rate of 20#’s per 1,000 square feet minimum. The synthetics include Gallery for the broadleaf weeds and Dimension for the grass weeds. Both are very specific products but can be applied one after the other. Follow the directions on the bag for proper application rates.
