Tis the start of the bug season. Some of the first to bugs to make an appearance in early spring are the swarming insects. Carpenter and fire ants and of course, termites are usually the first to show up. None should be taken for granted. As always it is better to be proactive than reactive. Keep the gutters clean and replace any rotted wood on the house. This includes decaying wood from trees, shrubs, and yes, you should check the mulch.
All of these types of pests can be controlled, but you have to know which one you are dealing with. Ants are best controlled with baits. The one I use is called “Advance Ant Bait”. Termites are another issue. If you are in a preventative mode Wells Brothers can help. However, if you are in the reactive mode, seek out the help of a professional like the folks at “The Pest Shop”.
