The last 30 years of my life have been spent dealing with people in a business environment. Rule number one is “focus on the customer’s issues only”. I’m about to break rule number one. The ambush that happened in Dallas on July 7th has pissed me off. So here goes.
I’m tired of listening to folks tell me what this low life, belly, crawling pond scum sucking, sack of crap shooter was thinking or what his motivation was. They must think I care about an excuse for this indefensible act. I don’t care. Some folks are just evil. Had he died 10 years ago it would have saved a lot of folks some unthinkable heartache. I don’t care what color he was, his name, his heritage, his political affiliation, his religion, his past, his upbringing, his sexual identity or where they dump his remains. This includes the nut jobs from Orlando, San Bernardino, University of Texas and every other terrorist act.
But I do care about the people in Dallas that he hurt. My heart aches for the people whose lives he disrupted and I wish you joy in your remaining days. For the folks that were killed I wish a fond remembrance and peaceful rest. I do give Dallas PD kudos for killing him without risking more lives. An R2-D2 unit with some C4 is just the weapon for this kind of animal. Like my mom always says “if you have more of this, you would have less of this”.
All I keep hearing about are all these evil police officers. There are, probably, bad cops. But cops have always been held to higher standards than anyone else. Wouldn’t it be refreshing if we all were held to the same standard? Especially our political leaders and media. Maybe they could actually act as the voices of reason and calm rather than setting fires so they can put them out. You break the law and you pay the price no matter who you are. What a concept.
In my life, I can’t remember when this country was this divided on so many fronts. This includes the desegregation days of the 1970s. Why? The politicians and media have categorized us in every way but Americans. This is the root cause and it took decades to do. And these are the effects. Now we are: black, white, brown, yellow, red, blue, believers, non-believers, faithful, faithless, rich, poor, urban, rural, gay, straight, crooked, ethical, associated, dissociated, east, west, north, south, union, non-union, legalized, illegal, documented, undocumented, liberal, conservative, progressive, right, left, misunderstood, organic, synthetic, essential, enough, too much, not enough, needed, needy, entitled, dependent, underpaid, overworked, confident, engaged, depressed, employed, unemployed, in, out, RNC, DNC, RINO, NRA, AARP, NAACP, KKK, LGBT, BLM, CNN, CBS, ABC, NPR, FOX, republican, democrat and I’m sick and tired of it. We are Americans first. We look out for one another and we give a hand up, not a hand out. Are we perfect, hell no, but our intentions used to be honorable. And finally, remember that these political, so-called leaders work for us!
Let’s try this. I am not responsible for what my ancestors did and neither are you. If you are in this country illegally, get out before we Americans throw you out. You’re welcome to come back but use the front door. Keep your heritage but remember this is America. You are entitled to nothing but an opportunity. It’s none of my business who you marry, I’m not intolerant I just don’t care. But when you force me to do something that is contrary to my belief, then you become intolerant. But that seems to be ok. I don’t have a problem by what name you call God. Until you force it on me, then I have an enormous problem. I don’t care what bathroom you use. I do care what bathroom your 16-year-old son uses. If someone is not sure about that then find a tree. Looking at me and seeing a white man is as bad as looking at Morgan Freeman and seeing a black man. If you see color first, you are part of the problem.
